The Factory-ECOMATION project is focusing on a key topic for the competitiveness of Europe and its companies, and its goals are multi-sectoral and interdisciplinary, covering the orchestration of a variety of systems typical in manufacturing environments, with the objective of reducing resources and energy consumption, improving the overall environmental sustainability to achieve the expected goals of European environmental policy.
Such goals call for the creation of a proper consortium of partners: excellence in their respective fields of expertise has been the guiding principle in assembling the Factory-ECOMATION team. One of the main objective has been to achieve balance among academic and research institutions, system development companies, and industrial end users to form a “Lean and Efficient Organization”.
The Universities and Research Institutes within Factory-ECOMATION hold clear Scientific and Technological excellence and attested experience of working in pan-European, co-operative researches, and they have been selected with particular attention to their relationships with the industrial landscape of their countries. In a complementary way, the industrial partners and the technology providers in Factory-ECOMATION are recognized key players in their respective sectors.
On the whole, the consortium is restricted to the most representative candidates with the best knowledge and capacities to target new research outcomes and benchmarks towards the near-zero-emissions factory vision targeted by Factory-ECOMATION; in particular, the industry is involved in monitoring, testing and evaluation of the results from the implementation side based on their market and worldwide knowledge.
